The meandering North Platte
The North Platte River is a tributary of the Platte River that has it’s origins in Colorado. In Wyoming it is well-known as a popular recreational river.

The North Platte River traverses various terrains. It runs through mountains, rugged forest, agricultural meadows, rolling sagebrush hills and juniper breaks.

The North Platte River is a blue-ribbon wild fishery, and is famous among Wyoming rivers for its trout and walleye fishing. The Gray Reef section of the North Platte have particularly productive waters, and was voted the #1 spot in the world for catching large trout by American Angler Magazine in its winter 2005 edition. Fly-fisherman from around the country come here to enjoy its abundant fish, beauty and solitude.

The North Platte is also appreciated for its boating opportunities. Though the entire river is not navigable, certain northern sections o the river provide excellent opportunities to do some white water rafting in Wyoming.
