Fly fishing on the Belle Fourche
The Belle Fourche River in Wyoming is a tributary of the Cheyenne River, which it eventually feeds 50 miles east/northeast of Rapid City, South Dakota. It is born in the northeastern part of Wyoming, approximately 15 miles north of the town of Wright, and flows northeast past Moorcroft, through the Keyhole Reservoir and then past Devils Tower. It is approximately 290 miles long and flows all the way through the state of Wyoming. At 3,099 above sea-level, this Belle Fourche River is the lowest point in the state. The Belle Fourche is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River via the Cheyenne and Missouri rivers.

The Belle Fourche is like many Wyoming rivers in that it provides anglers, especially fly-fishermen, with quality Wyoming fishing (though in the summer months exceedingly warm weather can render it unproductive). Game species caught on the Belle Fourche include black bullhead, channel catfish, smallmouth bass and sunfish.
