This thousand-mile marathon of a trail is located solely
within Wisconsin’s borders, traversing the state from the northwest
down to the thumb. It chronicles a vast array of beautiful geological
landforms left behind some 15,000 years ago. The southeast portion runs
close to the major city of Milwaukee and offers some of the most expansive,
impressive kettles (depressions from the isolated chunks of a glacier)
and kames (mounds of glacial remains) in the world.
