Eagle Cave was the 1st show cave of Wisconsin. The cave was discovered in 1849 by bear hunters following tracks in dense snow from the river bottoms up the hill and into the woods to the cave entrance. Several local businessmen were granted permission by the State of Wisconsin to open the cave for the public in 1937. The cave was quickly developed and inaugurated on May 29th 1938.

The cave is still entered through the original entrance, but it is exited via a 2nd entrance in a quarry. The entrance hall is huge and was easy to access. The cave has a number of large rooms and passageways. It is Wisconsin’s largest onyx cave. A special feature of this Wisconsin cave is sleeping in the cave, on weekends the entrance hall hosts up to 250 people.
