For Minnesota mountain biking fanatics, it doesn’t
get much better than the Kettle Moraine National Forest trails. Shaped
from the remains of a 15,000 year old glacier, the land is fast, steep
and erratic as you could ever want. Kettles and kames provide gaping
holes and oddly arranged peaks throughout the course of the John Muir
or the Emma Carlin, offset by the occasional clearing. But relaxed admiration
of the scenery is often short-lived. This intense, rollercoaster-esque
path is not for the faint of heart.
Be conscious of hikers and start out on the red loops before attempting
more challenging sections.
