The second longest nationally recognized trail stretches
far west, starting its journey in Missouri and ending here in Washington
state. Of course, there are several more modern ways to go about it
now, but you can sense the thrill of westward expansion, regardless
of how you travel.
Traveling along Snake River, the Columbus River Gorge and finishing
the epic journey on the banks of the Pacific, you can take the same
route as the famous explorers and get to know Washington state in all
its natural glory. There are campsites, cabins, lodges and various historic
sites along the way, encouraging you to understand the foresight of
a young United States prior to the Louisiana Purchase.
