Since the eastern portion of Washington is primarily prairie and meadow, Spokane is one of its more upbeat destinations. Although not sprawling or significantly modern, it is a nice change of pace.

With plenty to do along the beautiful Spokane River, the town’s primary attractions may be located just outside of downtown. Lodging when visiting this region can range from an RV park or primitive camping facility to a luxurious bed and breakfast to a rough, western guest ranch. If you are on your way west toward the coast or to expansive Seattle, Spokane can be an interesting stop.

Try your hand at a vast northwest casino or gain some culture at one of several local wineries before you skip town.
