The Long Beach Peninsula in western Washington
State is entirely within Pacific County. It lies 165 miles from Seattle
and 115 miles from Portland, Oregon. The peninsula is bounded by the
Pacific Ocean to the west, the Columbia River in the south and Willapa
Bay to the east. It is home to 4 Washington State Parks.
The Long Beach Peninsula is most famous for the 28 miles of continuous
sand beaches on the Pacific Ocean side, an area that locals claim to
be the longest beach in the United States. These excellent Washington
beaches are a popular vacation destination for people from all over
the state, and draw visitors from around the world, making tourism the
peninsula’s primary industry.
The Long Beach Peninsula has the usual array of activities available
to those who visit beaches in Washington. There area many festivals
for visitors to enjoy, thought the most famous is the Long Beach Kite
Festival in mid-August.
