Its unique setting, with a 3,000-foot elevation difference between the mountain and valley, makes temperatures vary so that skiing and golf facilities can be open at the same time. Wintergreen is a family-oriented resort offering numerous trails and slopes with an excellent variety of beginner to expert terrain and a vertical drop of more than 1,000 feet. Wintergreen is keenly sensitive to the delicate balance between nature and development. Wintergreen Resort has long been a champion of preserving the natural beauty of its surroundings. Since inception Wintergreen has carefully thought out its growth, and continues to work closely with The Wintergreen Nature Foundation, a non-profit organization that shares the common goal of preserving and protecting the Blue Ridge region of central Virginia.
