Clear and cold on Mt Pleasant
Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area is located in Amherst County, Virginia, just east of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Mount Pleasant is easily one of the most beautiful and scenic of all of the Virginia mountains with a peak over 4,000 feet high (Highest point on Mount Pleasant is 4,071 feet) featuring incomparable vistas from its 2 rocky overlooks. There is a breath-taking view on the east side and a jaw-dropping one on the west, so campers who place their tents with care can experience both sunrise and sunset on this unforgettable summit.

Mount Pleasant is a perfect place for Virginia hiking, and contains several trails. The Henry Lanum Trail and the Old Hotel Trail-Appalachian Trails each measure around 6 miles, with an elevation of between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. The lovely Spur Trail is not to be missed as it switchbacks through a stony mountain garden of moss and rhododendron.
