Virginia - Hoop Hole Trail

Trail Description:

Lower loop offers easy walk through mixed forest, with numerous creek crossings. Side trail leads � mile to site of old saw mill. Upper loop rovides more strenuous hike to top of Pine Mountain (elevation 3700�) with good views. Iron Ore Trail (2.4 miles in length) connects upper loop to Roaring Run Furnace. No facilities on Hoop Hole Trail.

Hiking the Hoop Hole Trail:

Ample parking. Trail leaves parking area and descents short distance to large sign, with trail information and distances.

Loop returns via either Hipes Branch or Stony Run, both picturesque mountain streams.

Trailhead Directions:

From I81, take Exit 150 to SR220 North past Eagle rock. At SR 615, turn left and go 8 miles to Hoop Hole Trailhead � roadside signs on right.

From I64, take Exit VA 696, right onto SR 696, right onto SR 616, another right onto SR 615.
