Trail Description:
At highest point Patterson Mountainis only 2250� in elevation, but it offers good views of Price Mountain, Bald Mountain, Potts Mountain, and Richpatch Mountain. Mixed hardwood and pine forest with some clearcut areas. There are no facilities on the Patterson Mountain Trail System.
Hiking the
Helms Trail:
Limited parking at Trailhead. Trail ascends steeply for for more than 1 mile to top of Patterson Mountain. Trail intersects with three other trails � Tucker, Helms, and Elmore � which descend to FS 184. Plenty of parking at each of these Trailheads. Tricky creek crossings on Helms and Elmore trails in wet weather.

Travel Information
Trailhead Directions: From I81, take Exit 150 to SR 220 North to Fincastle. Turn left on SR 606 and go 8.8 miles to SR 612. Turn right and go .3 mile to FS 184. Stay on FS 184 for 1.6 miles to Trailhead on south end of Patterson Mountain.
