A view of Norfolk Harbor
Norfolk Virginia is well known as a Naval Town. With attractions like the Battleship Wisconsin, submarine rides flight simulators at the Nauticus Naval Museum and the MacArthur Memorial it doesn’t look like they’ll be losing that honorable reputation anytime soon. The Norfolk waterfront is full of interesting activities and amenities, from free concerts at Town Pointe Park to boating at the Waterside Marina to shopping and dining at the Waterside Festival Marketplace.

One of the most enjoyable things to do in Norfolk Virginia is taking a cruise. The Spirit of Norfolk is a popular favorite, as are the naval themed Victory Rover tours. There are a number of paddlewheel ferries that provide excellent views of the city and are wheelchair accessible. The best ride in town is the cruise from Norfolk to Hampton Roads on the 135-ft. Schooner the American Rover.

Norfolk has many land-locked attractions as well. Visitors may appreciate the tranquil Norfolk Botanical Gardens, or the Mandrills, Siberian Tigers and Eastern Bongos exhibited at the Virginia Zoo. The Chrysler Museum of Art is an excellent destination for a little high culture in Norfolk Virginia. It displays works by Pollock, Renoir and Picasso, and an outstanding collection of glasswork in many styles from many eras.
