Vermont’s winters cold and snowy. The coldest temperatures generally occur in Vermont's mountains, and in the northeastern part of the state. Springs are cool and wet, with 40 to 50 degree temperatures. Summers are warm but mild, rarely breaking ninety degrees. Warmer temperatures are common in the valleys. Autumn is are cool, especially at night, but the fall foliage is breathtaking.

Precipitation in Vermont equals approximately 40 inches per year. Vermont receives heavy snowfall in almost every part of the state. Some mountain areas get as much as 125 inches per year.
