Though man has tried to make this thin stretch of land more accessible
on various occasions, the Woods Island region remains dedicated to natural
prosperity. The remnants of an old farm and an old airstrip still lay
in shambles, but it is not hard to envision a time when the forestry
was untouched. It is also probable that Woods Island will return to
its full natural splendor.
The islands out in Lake Champlain are accessible by boat, and many travel
to this portion of Vermont to explore them. Within the islands and the
subsequent state parks, you’ll find blossoming wildlife, including
some endangered and threatened species.
The campsites on Woods Island are primitive, offering little more than
cleared land. For adventurous souls, the grounds offer distinctive seclusion
and full exposure to Mother Nature’s graces.
