The Missisquoi has long been recognized
as a migration stopover for a plethora of bird species and a haven
to native wildlife. It is a balanced blend of marshland and thickly
wooded forest and can be viewed from the miles of trails, traversing
the grounds.
Not all of the refuge is accessible, and with good reason. The
conservationists and ecologists have deemed portions of the space
private, strictly meant for the expansion of native populations.
But the spaces where humans are welcome to tread can give them
keen insight into the reasons for preservation.
