With an elevation of 4,241 feet Killington, located east of Rutland in south central Vermont, and is the 2nd highest peak in the Green Mountains. It is also the point with the 2nd highest elevation in the state of Vermont.

Killington Peak is home to a major ski resort called the Killington Resort, where a gondola transports skiers and non-hikers to the mountain’s summit, and a eat at the restaurant on the peak. Killington is also a popular stop along the Long Trail.

Killington Peak is on of the most popular Vermont skiing locations in the entire state. The mountain’s snowy, scenic slopes have been attracting both expert and novice skiers since the early 1960’s. A busy day at Killington Peak might see as many as 17,000 skiers, so visitors who wish to ski Killington’s Peak are encouraged to make their arrangements as far in advance as they are able.
