Vermont - Ravine Trail

Trail Description:

The Ravine Trail passes through a wonderful hemlock and spruce plantation. As the trail loops around, it crosses a stream in 3 places with native rock step crossings. It is a primitive trail with a native tread and is steep in some places. The Ravine Trail connects with the Interloken Trail at Burnt Hill Road. Because of the steep slopes along the ravine, you must camp at least 200 feet from the trail. Please practice Leave No Trace ethics, such as carry out what you carry in.

Hiking the Ravine Trail:

The Ravine Trail is not suitable for cross-country skiing. There are sharp downhill pitches and limited room to maneuver.

No horses, mountain bikes or motorized vehicles.

Travel Information
Trailhead Directions:

From the South, take State Route 14 North (Exit 52 off State Route 17) to Watkins Glen, NY. In Watkins Glen, turn right at the Fourth St intersection onto State Route 414 North. Go approximately 9 miles north, past the Hector Ranger Station of the Finger Lakes National Forest. 0.5 miles past the Ranger Station, turn right on Schuyler County Route 2. Go east 3 miles to the Ravine Trail parking, located on the south side of the road.

From the North, take State Route 414 South to Hector, NY (Exit 41 off I-90). In Hector, 0.5 miles past Wickham�s Plaza, turn left onto County Route 2, the second asphalt road on the left. Go 3 miles east to the Ravine Trail parking area, located on the south side of the road.
