This is one of the nation’s longest continuous
trails, spanning fourteen states and encapsulating much of the beauty
found in American Appalachian Mountains. Vermont’s portion leads
hikers through river valleys, over mountaintops, and through thickly
wooded forests.
About 150 miles of variant terrain can be found along the way, affording
hikers a glimpse inside Vermont’s sprawling wilderness. Activities
available along the way include camping at local state parks, immaculate
scenery, regardless of season, rare bird watching, and amazing river
and pond fishing.
Whether you are skimming Vermont while finishing up the entire trail
length or simply setting out for a weekend adventure, this section of
the Appalachian Trail can give you a good idea how wild this state’s
wildlife can be.
