Vermont’s largest city with about 40,000 in residence,
Burlington rests between the rugged Green Mountains and Lake Champlain.
Its feel is decidedly open-minded and youthful, with several college
campuses gracing the outskirts.
Church Street offers the most urban of local settings with shops and
cafes easily within walking distance. This portion of town is very quaint
and accessible, with open-air terraces and outdoor markets in the summer.
This is one of the most popular, classy spots in the state, day or night.
Lake Champlain’s shores and a subsequent boardwalk run along the
entire western border. The water provides a vast range of activity for
adventurers and languorous tourists alike. There are bed and breakfasts
close to its shore, as well as campgrounds and state parks all along
the edge.
