Brattleboro is another in a string of progressive hamlets amongst Vermont’s many rivers and mountains. Local transplants seem to creep in from the east coast’s many large universities, lured by the charm and uniqueness of such places.

This town may be small, but that does not mean it is without heritage or culture. Brattleboro has a significant train station, a local museum, chronicling the past, an art center, an upscale brewery, several classy hotels and restaurants and more. And on the banks of the Connecticut River, there is no shortage of outdoor activity.

Brattleboro, like many towns in the region, is specifically beautiful in the first few weeks of October, when the trees are ablaze with color. But remember, if you simply stop in for the night, you may have trouble leaving.
