Vermont’s lushly forested mountains earn the name the “Green State” and provide visitors with wonderful hiking and camping spots, especially in White Mountain National Forest. The city of Burlington is worth a look, thanks to the lively college culture provided by the University of Vermont and its location on the shores of Lake Champlain. Skiers take note: Sugarbush and Mad River Glen have some fantastic slopes.
