Solitude Mountain Resort is nestled at 8,000 feet in spectacular Big Cottonwood Canyon. A long time favorite of Utah skiers, Solitude's friendly, family-oriented atmosphere and uncrowded lifts are no longer a well-kept secret. With an average snowfall of 500 inches of wonderful Utah powder, more than 1,200 acres and 66 named runs and bowls, Solitude is great for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Solitude Mountain Resort's base area is a Pedestrian only European-style village, providing a safe haven featuring fine and family dining and year-round activities. On mountain, wide open bowls under spectacular cliffs, open glades and tight tree runs are just some of the challenges of Canyons's 400 plus acres. The lift in Honeycomb Canyon won't deter the prestine landscape and neither will other skiers, just an unforgettable ski challenge amid the beauty and tranquillity unique to Solitude. Accessed from three lifts, the only groomed trail is the exit trail along the canyon floor. The SnowSports Academy offers expertly designed programs catering to every age group and all levels of skiing and snowboarding ability. The SnowSports Academy is located at the Moonbeam Learning Center, at Entry One. Adults will find specially-designed learn-to-ski programs, private lessons and custom group ski lessons for all ages. The Moonbeam Learning Center is part of the newly remodeled Moonbeam Base area, which features: the new Moonbeam Quad, servicing beginner and intermediate terrain on the heart of the mountain; the new Moonbeam Day Lodge, offering day skier services, dining and a pub; and the remodeled SnowSports Academy. This area is an efficient one-stop shopping experience streamlining the ski school process, also offering a babysitting service and a Brown Bag Lounge for visitors who bring their own meal. Solitude's Nordic Center, the new Silver Lake Day Lodge, is the base for cross-country skiing. Skiers can enjoy more than 20 km of forested trails prepared for both classical and skating.
