Bald eagles and other endangered animals, including several species of fish, call the Colorado home. It is a vital tributary and water source for the region, flowing almost the entire length of the state.

A few portions of the river are now dammed, adding extra recreational opportunity and new methods to gain from the river. Large reservoirs now adorn the watershed, creating several beaches and campground. Perhaps the most popular Colorado River adventure is white water rafting. Outfitters all along its stretch through Utah provide visitors with one of the most intense natural confrontations in the world.
