This 40,000-acre plot sees quite
a bit of action during the summer and on weekends throughout the
year. The gorge is the product of the nearby Flaming Gorge Dam,
which is a five hundred foot tall river management wall.
The reservoir has seen campgrounds springing up since the 1960’s,
when the dam was built. As a result, visitors can get an in depth
look at the interworkings and history of the dam, ride horses
through wooded trails and canyons, fish the still waters, bring
a picnic, camp out, hunt, partake in water sports, etc.
The U.S. Geological Service has thoroughly plotted the land, for
those willing to explore past the designated campgrounds.
