Lake Powell in south central Utah has 1,960
miles of shoreline and stretches 180 miles northeast from the Utah/Arizona
border. This, the most immense of the Utah lakes, is one of the most
starkly beautiful locations in the entire US. Lake Powell can be accessed
via 4 different points from 3 highways.
Lake Powell is an excellent place to do a little house-boating, fishing,
swimming and water skiing. Exploring Lake Powell’s countless narrow
side-canyons is one of the great pleasures the lake affords. Cruising
Lake Powell’s seemingly endless waters and camping on its beaches
is all the excitement some visitors need, but hiking to the rugged Glen
Canyon Recreation Area is possible from the lake.
Anglers at Lake Powell find the fishing excellent. There are large populations
of striped, largemouth and smallmouth bass here. Crappies, sunfish and
bluegills are numerous, and channel catfish can also be caught from
Lake Powell.
