The shores of Great Salt Lake
The Great Salt Lake in Utah is all that remains of Lake Bonneville, the pre-historic lake that covered sections of Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. Great Salt Lake is far saltier than an ocean, creating a kind of super-buoyancy not unlike that of the Dead Sea.

One of the most popular activities at Great Salt Lake is bird watching. The wetlands around Great Salt Lake provide a habitat for more than 250 different species of birds.

Antelope Island is the lake's largest island. It can be reached via a causeway. Antelope Island is home to one of the biggest publicly owned herds of buffalo in the US. Antelope, big horn sheep, mule deer, and coyotes also make their home on Antelope Island. The Historic Fielding Garr Ranch offers educational programs on 19th century western life.

Near Great Salt Lake is Lagoon, an immense amusement park that the whole family is sure to enjoy. Lagoon has 35 rides, live entertainment, and a water park.
