Hiking in scenic ZionZion National Park hiking is some of the most diverse on the planet. This Utah hiking classic features low and high deserts, waterfalls, high cliffs, sandstone wilderness, the Virgin River valley and water filled slot canyons.

The east side of the park is “slickrock” country made up of ironically rough textured red sandstone that is easily eroded into the regions characteristic buttes and domes. The rock does not appear slick. The rock formations on the east side of Zion are spectacular.

The Kolob areas are primitive sections of Zion National Park that are nevertheless great fun for hikers. Comparatively few visitors venture into this park of the park, so it’s perfect for hikers who aren’t found of fighting crowds.

The popular Zion Narrows trail is the most famous trail in the U.S. park system. No serious hiker will want to miss the challenges and rewards of this storied, scenic wonder.
