Timpanogos Cave

Utah Home | Utah Sitemap
Timpanogos Cave has 3 small, well-decorated caves called Hansen, Middle and Timpanogos Caves. These are connected via manmade tunnels. The most famous formation at Timpanogos Cave is the Heart of Timpanogos, a stalactite shaped like a heart. Also interesting are the tiny white, pink, yellow and green translucent crystals covering walls and ceiling. Their color is caused by small amounts of different metals like copper, iron and tin in the surrounding rocks. Many of the crystals there are Helicites, dripstones in fantastic shape.

The walk from American Fork Canyon starting at the Visitor Center climbs 324m over a distance of 2.4 km on a trail that offers spectacular views of Wasatch Mountains and Utah Valley. Remember that tickets are sold only at the Visitors Center.
