Texas is an enormous state with a several climate zones.
The eastern 3rd of Texas has a humid subtropical climate, with particularly
warm summers. The middle 3rd of Texas has a sub-humid subtropical climate;
its summers are hot and its winters are dry. From the mid-Rio Grande
Valley to the Pecos Valley the climate is a sub-tropical steppe climate,
with semi-arid/arid conditions. The sub-tropical arid climate in the
basin and plateau region of the Trans-Pecos features heavy summertime
precipitation. In the higher elevations of the Guadalupe, Davis and
Chisos Mountains a typical mountain climate is evident.
