With a length of 30 miles, a width of almost 5 miles (at its widest point), and a shoreline of over 120 miles Lake Buchanan in central Texas easily is the largest of the 1st 4 Highland Lakes. Similarly, with a length of more than 2 miles Buchanan Dam was believed to be the longest multiple-arch dam in the U.S. at the time it was built.

Lake Buchanan is an extremely popular destination for outdoor adventurers. Anglers will be pleased to know that Striper Bass are well-stocked in Lake Buchanan, and number in the millions, and Texas Fishing Guides are available to take visitors out on the lake. Lake Buchanan is spacious enough to accommodate all kind of boating and water sports. The granite gravel shore around the lake also provides a good beach for swimming and sun bathing.
