The Houston Zoo is located within Hermann Park in Houston, Texas. It is a 55-acre zoological park that is home to more than 4,500 animals belonging to over 500 species. The Houston Zoo is accredited by The American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA). Some 1.5 million people visit the zoo each year, making it the 7th most visited zoo in the nation and one of the major things to do in Houston.

There are many exhibits to choose from at the Houston Zoo. The Reptile and Amphibian building is the primary facility for the amphibian species. The John P. McGovern Children's Zoo features 6 different animal habitats where children can touch and pet goats and sheep. The zoo is home to over 230 species of birds in facilities like the tropical Fischer Bird Gardens and an open-air Pheasant Run. Other exhibits include the Kipp Aquarium and the Janice Suber McNair Asian Elephant Habitat.
