Located in Austin, Texas, Zilker Metropolitan Park is a 351-acre
park that offers a number of recreation opportunities and special
events that are fun for the whole family. Unique Austin attractions
found in the park include the Zilker Zephyr miniature train, canoeing
on Town Lake, the large multi-age play area, hiking and biking
trails, full-service picnic areas and the Barton Springs Pool
natural spring-fed swimming area.
This crown jewel of the Austin parks is home to the Zilker Botanical
Gardens, which includes the Taniguchi Oriental Garden and the
Austin Area Garden Center as well as the Austin Nature and Science
Center. The Zilker Hillside Theatre hosts concerts Zilker Summer
Musical and Shakespeare in the Park. The Umlauf Sculpture Garden
and Museum is home of the collection of pieces by sculptor Charles
Umlauf.
Visitors of the more athletic bent can pursue the outdoor sport
of their choice on one of several sand volleyball courts, the
nine-hole Disc Golf Course, any of 9 Soccer Fields, a Rugby Field
or 2 Multi-use Fields. |
