Mable Davis Park in Austin, Texas covers nearly 50 acres of beautiful
green space and outdoor adventure areas. Mable Davis Park amenities
include a full length basketball court, an olympic-size swimming
pool, a playscape, covered picnic area and a skate park featuring
a skate bowl, streetscape elements and a grass seating area.
Mabel Davis Park was originally a landfill for the City of Austin
from 1944-1955, but the park was ultimately developed and opened
to the public in 1979. The park was named after Mrs. Alden Davis,
a civic leader who diligently served Austin for over 60 years.
Mrs. Davis was Life Chairman Emeritus of the Austin Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board, and as charter member and 1st president
of the Austin Area Garden Center, she was instrumental in creating
and developing the Zilker Municipal Garden in Zilker Metropolitan
Park.
