The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is a botanical garden
in Austin, Texas that is dedicated to native plants. The Lady
Bird Johnson Wildflower Center uses native plantings with regionally
appropriate architecture to integrate Austin’s community
and the natural world in a way that respects and enhances both.
The result is a beautiful Austin attraction that draws many visitor
each year.
The center’s philosophy is rooted in the principles espoused
by its founders, former 1st Lady Lady Bird Johnson and acclaimed
actress Helen Hayes: to honor and respect the natural beauty and
biological heritage of each region of the country, to the conservation
and restoration of wildflowers, native plants, and the biological
communities on which they depend and the encouragement of native
Texas flora through artful, naturalistic plantings in public,
private, urban, and suburban landscapes. The Lady Bird Johnson
Wildflower Center is a non-profit corporation.
