Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park has 3 Tennessee campgrounds,
2 of which are primitive. Happy Hollow camping area has 38 sites,
each with tables, grills, water and electrical hookups. There
is also a communal playground, a central bathhouse with showers,
lavatories, commodes and a dump station. The 2nd campground is
primitive camping with 15 sites. All of these campsites are provided
on a first-come, first-served basis. The 3rd campground is available
for supervised youth groups such as scouts, and is available by
reservation only.
Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park has 2 picnicking areas, with
tables, water and grills. Restrooms and playgrounds are located
nearby. There are 3 picnic pavilions are available for group use,
by reservation.
Kentucky Lake’s 200,000 acres provides opportunities for
boating, skiing, and fishing Commercial marinas and public boat
docks are located nearby. Fishing is also very popular on Kentucky
Lake. Large catches of smallmouth, largemouth, striped bass, sauger,
crappie, bream, and catfish are not uncommon there. A Tennessee
fishing license is required.
