The magnificent Parthenon is the pride of Nashville's premier urban park Centennial Park. The replication of the Parthenon is faith down to the 42-foot statue that Athena is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece, and are both full-scale replicas of the ancient originals.
The Parthenon was originally constructed for Tennessee's 1897 Centennial Exposition. The plaster replicas of the Parthenon Marbles found in the Naos are direct casts of the original sculptures which adorned the pediments of the Athenian Parthenon nearly 2,500 years ago. The originals are housed in the British Museum in London.
The Parthenon in Centennial Park serves as the city of Nashville's art museum. A group of 63 paintings by19th and 20th century American artists donated by James M.
