Mount le Conte in the Smoky Mountians.
Mount Le Conte is part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. At 6,593 ft it is the 3rd highest peak in the park behind Clingmans Dome and Mount Guyot. It is also the tallest mountain in the Eastern United States from immediate base to peak. There are 4 sub-peaks above 6000 ft on Mount Le Conte: West Point, High Tops, Cliff Tops and Myrtle Point.

Mount Le Conte is home to the highest lodging inn located the Eastern United Sates. The LeConte Lodge is a small resort on the top of the mountain. There is no transportation to the lodge. Supplies are flown in by helicopter and guests must hike in on one of the five trails that access the mountain: Alum Cave Bluff Trail, Boulevard Trail, Bullhead Trail, Rainbow Falls Trail and Trillium Gap Trail. The LeConte Lodge is maintained under a lease with the National Park Service. Interested travelers should make their reservations at least a year in advance.
