Hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great way to see the gorgeous scenery and Tennessee wildlife. With over 850 miles of hiking trails traversing the Great Smoky Mountains, including the 70 miles of the Appalachian Trail that runs for along the park's top ridge, there are few better locations for National Park hiking.
Alum Cave Trail is just under 4 1/2 miles long. It passes Arch Rock, a natural arch, Inspiration Point, and the Alum Cave Bluff. Inspiration Point provides hikers with a spectacular view of the west fork of the Little Pigeon River's upper basin.
Andrews Bald is a trail of similar length with great views of Fontana Lake. This trail, like the Alum Cave trail, is of moderate difficulty.
Chimney Tops is a strenuous and steep climb to 2 rock spires that sore over 4,750 ft above sea level. From the top they provide a breathtaking 360-degree view.
