Tuckaleechee Caverns in Tennessee is famous for its speleothems, which are locally known as "cave onyx". In the biggest hall, which is 55m long, 33m wide and up to 22m high, are numerous plate stack stalagmites, or palm trunc stalagmites. Locally these are knick-named totem poles. The cave has three different cave rivers, which merge in the cave and emerge about 1km away in Dunn Spring.
The natural entrance of the cave lies at the foot of Little Mountain in Dry Valley, Tennessee. Two local men, who developed the cave by hand, developed the cave. The 1st tours were given with handheld Coleman lanterns, but electric lights were soon installed.
