Pickett Memorial State Park is located in the distant upper reaches of the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. Renowned for its unmatched geological, botanical, and scenic wonders the park is adjacent to the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. The entire region has exciting prime wilderness and the small Arch Lake shoreline is the place for all water-based activities.
The park’s swimming area is unbelievable. Pickett's beautiful, cliff-lined sandy swimming beach is one of the most picturesque in the South. The beach has a bathhouse and swimming is free. Swimming is available during summer months. The lined sandstone bluffs provide a beautiful setting. With no lifeguards on duty you need to be careful to ensure safety. Adults must accompany children. This day-time beach can be accessed from Memorial Day to Labor Day, every day.

Fishing boats and canoes are available for rent on Arch Lake. Personally owned boats are prohibited on the small 12-acre lake. However the lake is well stocked throughout the summer months with trout. The region is of particular interest for its uncommon rock formations, natural bridges, numerous caves and the remains of ancient Indian occupation.
Besides such primitive natural attractions, the park offers 32 campsites, each with electric and water hookups, picnic tables and grills. The campground is served with a modern bathhouse and a dump station. The campground is open year round, the sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and the maximum stay limit is two weeks.
The park has a large picnic area located on the shores of the beautiful Arch Lake. Picnic tables are free of charge. Two covered picnic shelters are available for rent and can be reserved through the park office. Playgrounds, tennis courts, and restrooms are also available.
