When to visit:

South Carolina’s famous Myrtle Beach draws giant crowds on Spring Break and the peak summer tourist season, crowds mostly made up of families and rowdy kids in their late teens and early 20’s. Prices soar in the summer, and rooms can be hard to find if reservations aren’t made early.

Winter stays quite warm in South Carolina, making it a golfing hotspot. Again, golfers should make their reservations early, as the best holiday packages go pretty fast.

Off-season visitors will find plenty to enjoy in South Carolina without having to fight crowds or pay through the nose. The beach is only marginally cooler in the fall, and the ocean never closes.
