Most visitors to the Sierra Nevada choose either the
winter or the summer seasons for their trip. The summer visitors come
for the more forgiving weather, though the eastern ranges near Nevada
can get pretty hot. Summer is an excellent time to visit majestic Yosemite
National Park*. This means crowds of course, and hardier outdoor adventures
may want to risk less mild “shoulder seasons” to get a bit
more elbow room.
Winter in the Sierra Nevada offers skiers plenty of wonderful opportunities.
Lake Tahoe* sees an equal amount of action in the snowy months as it
does in the sunny ones, and it’s also the least punishing time
to visit Death Valley*. Only the toughest and most masochistic souls
spend much time in the mountains in this season.
