Upper Jamison Creek Campground

The Upper Jamison Creek Campground is on of the most gorgeous camps sites in the Northern Sierra. The Upper Jamison is notably lush compared to most Sierra area camps, which have sparse vegetation and have a tendency appear harsh or barren.

The camp’s 67 sites are spread throughout the semi-dense forest; some of the best are near the creek. The campgrounds feature piped water, flush toilets, shower buildings, garbage facilities and fire pits with grills, amenities that take the sting out of the $12.00 use fee. Each site also has a picnic table, a wooden storage cabinet, and a bear proof locker (this is bear country, so lockers must be used to store food). The State Park Visitor Center is only a short walk through the forest. RV owners may use the Dump Station at the State Park Visitor Center’s entrance.

There are several nearby hiking trails to enjoy, like the one to the Lakes Basin Area, or to the mile long hike to the historic town of Johnsville.

Though it is not very well known the Upper Jamison Creek Campground can be somewhat crowded, so making reservations (via the Plumas-Eureka State Park at (530) 836-2380) and being prepared for a few neighbors is advised.
