Worden Pond is a shallow, wind-swept, 1,000-acre
pond near Rhode Island’s Great Swamp. Worden Pond’s inlet
and outlet rivers run throughout the 3,350-acre swamp, providing arguably
the best canoeing in the state. The public boat access at Worden Pond’s
south end provides access to the entire lake, as well as the Chipuxet
River and the Charles River. The big boulders strewn about Stony Point
are a perfect place to come ashore for a picnic, or to get a good view
of the pond and its privately owned island. Rhode Island wildlife species
that may be observed here include beaver, muskrat, turtles, waterfowl
and marsh birds.
Worden Pond Family Campgrounds are 65 acres of privately owned and operated
Rhode Island campground located on Worden Pond. There are 250 large,
wooded sites available, with both electric service and water hookups
for tent and RV camping, along with 2 restrooms, coin-operated showers,
and other amenities.
