This region boasts an extremely popular
fragment of the Delaware River. The “gap” as its known is
little more than a river valley that carves deep into the surrounding
Appalachian chain. The recreation site is well established and hosts
about four million nature seekers every year.
The 70,000 acres of dry shoreline offer an abundance of natural interaction.
Bring your camera to capture the varying wildlife that has called the
area home long before there were trails and campgrounds. Or just backpack
the paths and camp along the way. Steep bluffs and cliffs make for challenging
climbing and waterfalls and thick foliage adorn forest paths on all
sides.
And of course, there’s the river. Canoeing, Kayaking, swimming,
tubing and other water sports are welcome along any of the established
beaches or in uncharted territory.
So for a complete range of outdoor activity, the Delaware provides generously.
