Pennsylvania’s Lake Arthur is located
in Moraine State Park, 50 miles north of Pittsburgh. This attractive
lake provides many recreational activities, including Pennsylvania fishing,
swimming and picnicking.
Lake Arthur is a warm water fishery. Game fish found in Lake Arthur
are common to Pennsylvania lakes: northern pike, largemouth bass, channel
catfish, black crappie, and bluegill. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat
Commission also stock the lake with muskellunge, walleye, channel catfish,
and hybrid striped bass. Fishing is relegated to certain areas of the
lake (e.g. fishing is not permitted in the marina).
There are 2 sand and turf swimming beaches at Lake Arthur, namely the
Pleasant Valley Day Beach on the South Shore and Lakeview Beach on the
North Shore. Lifeguards are on duty daily from Memorial Day weekend
through Labor Day, weather permitting.
Visitors who would like to picnic near Lake Arthur can find tables,
charcoal grills and restrooms throughout the day-use areas and the marina.
For a fee, some pavilions may be reserved advance; the rest are 1st
come, 1st serve.
