At Oregon’s Ecola State Park a paved road from Cannon Beach
winds its way through a forest of tall Sitka spruce to emerge
upon a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Ecola State Park
offers year-round recreation of all types. There are many miles
of hiking trails to enjoy, and plenty of places to picnic. At
Indian Beach visitors can access the Clatsop Loop Trail a fascinating
interpretive trail.
Surfers ride the waves at Indian Beach and beachcombers visit
the numerous tide pools. Nature photographers and bird watchers
should keep on the lookout for many species of Oregon wildlife
and birds that call Ecola State Park home, or spot migrating gray
whales during winter and spring.
Guests who would like to stay overnight should visit Tillamook
Head. There they can sleep in the Ecola State Park’s small,
primitive, yet cozy cabins, just a 1.5-mile hike from the Indian
Beach trailhead.
