Thomas Condon Paleontology Center fossil displayLocated in the Sheep Rock Unit at eastern Oregon’s John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Dayville, the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center is a fascinating and educational place dedicated to the study of one of Oregon’s most amazing National Park attractions. This wheelchair-accessible Oregon Museum is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and admission is free.

At the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center scientists actively study the John Day Fossil Beds’ 50 million years of plant and animal evolution through a massive collection of 40,000 fossils, including the remains of early cousins of elephants, camels, rhinoceroses and sabertooth tigers. The whole family is sure to enjoy the fun, interactive exhibits scattered throughout the museum, including microscopes, touch tables, fossils, bones, formations and a Junior Ranger Program for younger visitors.
