Since much of this portion of southern
Ohio was untouched by ancient glaciers, the land remains jagged
and serrated, ideal for those unimpressed by most of the rolling
farmlands here. Brush Creek offers a dramatic alternative to the
primarily flat land that makes up Ohio. Hikers and backpackers
can tromp around the 12,000 or so acres within the state forest
boundaries.
Visitors to the forest are welcome to partake in the scenery as
well as the bountiful vegetation. Gathering of berries, mushrooms
and natural nuts is permitted.
